IBS and GI Pain Management in Primary Care
The Rome Foundation is pleased to present a new accredited educational course focused on the identification, assessment, and management of abdominal pain and associated gastrointestinal symptoms in the primary care setting.
Moderated by Maura Corsetti, MD, and featuring Pali Hungin, MBBS, MD, FRCP, FRCGP, FRSA, and Joel Heidelbaugh, MD, MS, this program is designed to support primary care providers in recognizing and managing IBS, functional dyspepsia, and other disorders of gut-brain interaction.
Faculty will discuss clinically applicable approaches to establishing a positive diagnosis, communicating the diagnosis effectively with patients, and developing individualized management strategies. The program will address pharmacologic and over-the-counter therapies, as well as lifestyle and non-pharmacologic approaches to symptom management.
The course will also explore practical language and metaphors that clinicians can incorporate into patient-provider communication to support understanding and acceptance of a positive diagnosis and facilitate discussions around appropriate treatment options.
Accompanying micro-learning resources and clinical pocket cards will reinforce key concepts from the program and provide practical tools to support their translation into clinical practice.
